Travel guide Canberra

Welcome to Canberra, the capital of Australia! Often overshadowed by its glamorous sisters Sydney and Melbourne, Canberra is a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered. With its wide boulevards, imposing government buildings and world-class museums, Canberra has a unique atmosphere of tranquillity and elegance. But make no mistake, this city has much more to offer than politicians and bureaucrats. It's full of natural treasures, walking trails, vineyards and a thriving food and culture scene.
Canberra has a fascinating history. Unlike many other capital cities, it was specifically designed to be the country's capital. The city was founded in 1913, after intense competition between Sydney and Melbourne for the title of capital. Since then, Canberra has evolved into a vibrant, cosmopolitan city, while retaining a strong influence from its rich Aboriginal history.
Canberra is well served by Canberra International Airport, which offers direct flights to all major Australian cities. If you prefer to travel by road, Canberra is about a 3-hour drive from Sydney and 7 hours from Melbourne. There are also numerous bus and train services linking Canberra to other major cities.
