Amalfi, a jewel on the Amalfi Coast, is famous for its maritime history, breathtaking scenery and typical Mediterranean architecture.
A former maritime republic, Amalfi played a major role in Mediterranean trade in the Middle Ages and boasts many historic monuments from that period.
Accessible via the winding Amalfi Coast road or by ferry from Naples, Salerno or Positano. The town is also well served by local buses.
